Ultimate Chicago Sky Game Day Guide: Pizza, Hoops & City Vibes

Updated: Oct 1, 2025

Summertime Chi is forever a vibe you must experience. Along with all of the festivals and activities we have happening, we also have our beloved Chicago Sky playing in South Loop (if you say SoLo to me or whatever you Chicago transplants are trying to make happen, I will lose it. Don't say that. Ever). Chicago is a true sports city that lives and breathes basketball, and if you're coming to town for a Chicago Sky game, you're in for an unforgettable experience. Whether you're a die-hard WNBA fan or just looking for a fun night out, this guide will help you plan the perfect game day—where to stay, where to eat, and how to make the most of your time in the Windy City.

Where to Stay

If you’re traveling to Chicago for the game, you’ll want to stay somewhere convenient and comfortable. The Wintrust Arena, where the Sky play, is located in the South Loop, making it easy to access from a variety of great hotels. Here are a few top picks:

  • Marriott Marquis Chicago – Located just steps from Wintrust Arena and has a lovely bridge to access Wintrust Arena so you don't have to go outside, this modern hotel offers sleek rooms, stunning city views, and easy access to restaurants and attractions.

  • The Blackstone, Autograph Collection – A stylish and historic hotel in the South Loop, The Blackstone blends luxury with classic Chicago charm.

  • Hilton Chicago – A great option along Michigan Avenue, this hotel is just a short drive or train ride away from the arena. Plus, it’s near Grant Park and the lakefront for a scenic Chicago experience.

Where to Eat Before the Game

No trip to a Chicago Sky game is complete without grabbing a bite to eat beforehand. No shade to Wintrust Arena food, but it's definetly not giving like our other arenas for sporting events. Here are two solid options to consider:

Williams Inn Pizza

If you’re craving a classic Chicago thin-crust pizza, Williams Inn Pizza is a must-visit. This South Side favorite is known for its crispy crust, flavorful sauce, and generous toppings. Whether you're a fan of pepperoni, sausage, or a classic cheese pie, this spot serves up some of the best pizza in town. Pair your meal with a flight of wings (no really, get this) or garlic bread for the perfect pre-game feast.

Signature

For a more upscale dining experience, Signature offers a menu filled with elevated comfort food and craft cocktails. Whether you’re in the mood for seafood, steak, or a specialty burger, you’ll find something delicious to enjoy before heading to the game. Plus, its stylish atmosphere makes it a great spot for a celebratory meal after a Sky win!

Game Time at Wintrust Arena

Chicago Sky fans bring the energy in Wintrust Arena to support our team. This arena provides an intimate setting that puts you close to the action. Here are a few tips to enhance your game day experience:

  • Arrive early – Get to the arena with enough time to soak in the energy, grab some merch, and find your seats.

  • Check out the fan zone – There are often pre-game activities, giveaways, and fun surprises for fans.

  • Explore nearby attractions – If you have time before or after the game, you’re close to Museum Campus, the Chicago Riverwalk, and the Mag Mile to get some shopping in.

A trip to see the Chicago Sky is more than just a basketball game—it’s an experience that blends sports, city vibes, and great food. With a stay at one of Chicago’s best hotels, a pre-game meal at Williams Inn Pizza or Signature, and a night at Wintrust Arena, you’re set for an amazing time in the city.
