Food Is Part of How I Experience a Destination

I don’t plan trips around food.
But I do pay attention to it when I’m in a destination.
Because food tells you a lot about how a place actually moves.
Some cities are fast-paced, grab-and-go, always in motion. Others are built around long meals, conversation, and slowing down. You notice it quickly once you’re there.
It’s one of the ways I understand the rhythm of a place, not through restaurants alone, but through how people eat, where they gather, and what feels local versus what feels designed for visitors.
As a travel advisor, that context matters.
It helps me understand neighborhoods, energy, and the type of experience a destination naturally supports. That ends up shaping the recommendations I make for clients, not just where to go, but how a trip will actually feel once you’re there.
Food isn’t the focus of my planning.
It’s part of how I understand the experience.
